Who are we:
Our client is a 6-year-old VC-backed biotech startup pioneering enzyme design technologies to power the next generation of therapeutics, diagnostics, and sustainable biomanufacturing.
This position is an opportunity to take ownership of our accounting function and help shape the financial backbone of a science-first, impact-driven company.
What You Will Do:
You will be responsible for keeping our accounting accurate and compliant while also building out scalable processes and systems as we grow.
Core Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including bookkeeping, expense tracking, and reconciliations.
- Ensure VAT, payroll, and other statutory filings are correctly processed (with help from external advisors when needed).
- Own month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Maintain and improve internal control systems and documentation.
- Collaborate with external accounting partners or auditors to ensure accurate reporting.
Strategic/Operational Responsibilities:
- Help build out scalable finance processes (e.g., invoice handling, budgeting, cost tracking) to match the companys evolving business model.
- Assist with cash flow planning, grant compliance (if applicable), and financial analysis.
- Take on ad-hoc projects (e.g., reporting for investors or preparing for funding rounds).
- Set up or optimize tools like accounting software, dashboards, or payroll systems.

Must-Haves:
- Proven experience in accounting or financial operations (ideally in a startup or SME).
- Good knowledge of Lithuanian and EU accounting standards.
- Comfortable with cloud-based accounting tools (e.g., Rivile, Xero, QuickBooks, or equivalents) and excited about new technologies in accounting.
- Fluent in English; Lithuanian proficiency for local compliance is a plus.
- Hands-on, pragmatic, and not afraid of ambiguous situations.
- A continuous learner who is excited to find new ways of understanding and improving the business based on financial data.
Would be great if you have:
- Experience in (bio)technology, R&D-heavy, or grant-funded organizations.
- Familiarity with cost tracking across projects or products.
- Interest in expanding beyond accounting into broader financial operations.
