Department Description
The Data & Analytics team consists of a diverse set of Financial Data Analysts (FDAs) supporting Banking, Insurance, Corporate Finance, Sovereign, Public Finance and Structured Finance Lines of Business. The teams are located in Vilnius, London, Bangalore, New York, Costa Rica, Hong Kong, and Tokyo in order to support Analysts based in EMEA, the Americas and Asia Pacific. FDAs contribute towards the financial analysis part of the rating process which has a significant impact on any given rating.
Responsibilities
FDAs in Financial Institutions Group (FIG) contribute towards the financial analysis part of the rating process, which is significant to the rating process. FDAs use accounting and finance knowledge and judgment to perform financial statement analysis, adjust issuer reported data per relevant methodology requirements and review and analyze ratios.
The position provides a unique opportunity to foster skills in the financial services industry. Those skills are regularly reinforced via various forms of training and knowledge sharing by analysts.
FDAs are responsible for:
- Supporting Analysts by delivering accurate, timely, and consistent financial data in line with the Moodys methodologies for various financial institutions (Banks, Financial Companies, Securities Firms, Asset Managers)
- Reviewing and understanding financial statements, official statements and other documents related to issuers performance in collaboration with analysts and accounting specialists
- Creating documentation and providing guidance to support analysts and outsourcers
- Reviewing, adjusting and publishing data to be used by analytical teams and external market participants
- FDAs also have the opportunity to work on technology projects, accounting changes, analytic reviews, methodology updates and implementation of process improvements
Responsibilities
- B.A. or B.S. degree required; specializations in Accounting, Finance, or Economics preferred
- Knowledge of accounting and/or analyzing financial statements is required
- Strong English language skills; additional French, German, Spanish or Nordic language (good intermediate) would be an advantage
- Relevant work or internship experience in credit and/or financial analysis desired
- Solid knowledge of MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Individual must be organized, dependable, able to multi-task and manage priorities, display initiative, and have the ability to work independently in a demanding, fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational, communication (verbal & written), and interpersonal skills are required
- Candidate must have the ability to quickly transition as priorities change to meet demands
