About Berliner BagsThe Berliner Bags story can be traced back to 2014. While still a university student, our founder Kees noticed how difficult it was to find stylish, durable bags that didnt cost a fortune. From that moment he was committed to filling that gap in the market, and was determined to create bags and accessories that could stand the test of time and look good doing so. Berliner Bags was founded in 2017 and has been creating uniquely stylish and durable bags since then. Our PhilosophyAs part of our commitment to sustainability, Berliner Bags embraces a Slow Fashion approach. For us, Slow Fashion means that less is more. We create fewer collections and fewer products so that we can ensure each and every design is practical, sturdy, and chic. By focusing on quality over quantity, we believe that we can inspire our consumers to take better care of their belongings so they can love one backpack for decades, rather than buying a new one every season. We encourage you to buy less but better, and focus on thoughtful purchases that will never go out of style. Here at Berliner Bags, Slow Fashion also means a commitment to fair business practices and good labor standards. We believe that treating our employees and artisans well will lead to a better product for our customers and a better world for everyone. Designed in Berlin All Berliner Bags are designed with love and care in Berlin, Germany. We are continuously inspired by this city we call home. One of the birthplaces of modern environmentalism, Berlins green ethos and drive for change inspire us to do better and continue to look for ways to make our products more sustainable. Berlin is also a fashion capital, and whether theyre punks or princesses, were inspired by the authenticity and individuality of those we see around us on a daily basis. This once-divided city has become a mecca for young creatives and we feel privileged to work with talented photographers and designers in our community. Why we use leather We choose to use leather rather than other materials because leather is natural, durable, and beautiful. Leather is the perfect material for hard wearing bags and backpacks, as it is naturally flexible, breathable and waterproof. Thanks to its unique organic properties, it is extremely long lasting and wont crack, tear, or split when cared for properly. Leather is also a beautiful material, and its natural grain makes each product one-of-a-kind. Over time, natural leather develops a patina, reflecting its unique history and use. Finally, at the end of its lifecycle, leather breaks down naturally, without releasing harmful chemicals or plastic into the soil.
