Your responsibilities:
As the VAT Analyst/Data Preparer, you will report to the Record-to-Report (RTR) Manager and be part of a team responsible for UK VAT submissions. You will work closely with various stakeholders, including the Tax team, the business, and Tax authorities, to prepare VAT reports and reconcile VAT accounts.
Your responsibilities:
The VAT Analyst/Data Preparer will be required to support the RTR Manager in delivering the services under the RTR tower, executing the following responsibilities:
· Managing and maintaining the Groups VAT compliance calendar to include all key deadlines for the delivery of financial data, preparation and filing of returns and timely instruction of VAT payments.
· Maintaining a filing system for VAT records, related communications, and advice.
· Working on SAP and other systems to extract financial data and supporting documents (principally invoices) needed to prepare UK and overseas VAT returns, EU Sales Lists, and Intrastat returns, Plastic Packaging Tax etc.
· Reviewing data, invoices, and amending/reformatting where necessary
· For certain jurisdictions, sending data to external advisors in the required format and in accordance with agreed timescales.
· Performing reconciliations between VAT GL accounts and VAT returns.
· Ensuring accurate and timely filing of VAT and Sales Tax returns, and ensuring payments are initiated according to internally agreed payment approval processes and timescales.
· Working with the Indirect Tax and finance team in UK to identify and implement improvements in the extraction, analysis, and presentation of financial data relevant to indirect tax processes (e.g. through changes to existing SAP reports, designing new reports, using data analytics tools, process automation tools, AI etc.).
Requirements for the role:
· Bachelors or Masters degree in Economics, Business, Finance, Statistics, or related field.
· Experience working in a similar industry in a record-to-report role.
· Strong understanding of VAT principles.
· Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP) and workflow technology.
· Knowledge of key business process technologies, including ERP systems, is desirable.
· Strong self-awareness and relationship-building skills.
· High integrity and a meticulous eye for detail, fostering trust in the analysis provided.
· Proactive mindset with the ability to take initiative and drive results.
· Full proficiency with Microsoft applications including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
· Fluent in English, with strong reading, writing, and communication skills for effective engagement with senior stakeholders and management.
