Job description
- Lead and manage the growing GL team while providing guidance, training, and support to ensure high performance and professional growth.
- Manage team resources based on skills, workload and availability, while creating an inspiring team environment with an open communication culture and motivating team members.
- Responsible for teams day-to-day accounting activities, reconciliations and/or legal entity (statistical/statutory) reporting performance, including oversee and review of deliverables, ensuring high quality through reviews and approvals of GL Journal Entries.
- Develops and owns the month, quarter and year end close timetables and therein manages the GL accountants to discharge their responsibilities effectively.
- Oversee the review and analysis of the results before submitting to the Group including regular BS review meetings with the Group.
- Facilitate complex accounting issues resolutions by proactively engaging with various stakeholders to ensure support for GL team members.
- Is on the front foot with engaging the business where there are issues of non-compliance with process, typically this will be through the sharing of KPIs, also with engaging the finance business partner where there is an important implication to the results of the business.
- Support business / business partners through educating and advising them on accounting matters ensuring the business activities are correctly reflected in the books of record.
- Suggest and implement strategies to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of GL processes, driving continuous improvement initiatives with a focus on GL processes review and optimization.
- Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure high-quality service delivery and address any issues promptly.
- Ensure team compliance with company policies and industry regulations, fostering a culture of best practices.
- Monitor team performance against key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide guidance and support to achieve targets.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of financial processes and data.
Requirements
- Education: Degree in Economics, Business Administration, or a related field, preferably with a focus on accounting.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, with demonstrated expertise in end-to-end finance processes (including financial statements preparation and tax reports) of which 1+ years in a supervisory role.
- IFRS requirements: solid end-to-end process understanding with a focus on GL area. Knowledge and practice in IFRS are an advantage.
- Understanding of Tax legislation requirements
- Experience in leading teams and working in a complex, international business environment is highly advantageous.
- Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems – IFS is highly advantageous.
- Language Skills: Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
