Purpose of the position: Under the direction of the Baltic Medical Manager, and as an integrated member of core brand team, act as the first point of call for any medical activity related to the Ipsen pharma products portfolio, including undertaking clinical trial, scientific liaison, medical information, and other project activities in accordance with the local medical strategy and tactics and overall business strategy, Ipsen SOPs and International Codes of Practice. Provide non-promotional, high level scientific, medical, and technical support to Ipsen's external (Health Care Professional) and internal customers at office or field levels.
Main responsibilities and tasks:
- Be a member of the Nordic and Baltic medical department acting as a professional with scientific, clinical, and therapeutic area expertise.
- Be the internal medical expert in the Ipsen pharma products related field and ensure effective knowledge exchange and engage strong partnership with commercial and market access colleagues.
- Be responsible for driving and implementing, on a non-promotional basis, medical and scientific initiatives in accordance with the local medical strategy and overall business strategy.
- Conduct both office-based as well as field-based medical activities, towards internal and external stakeholders.
- Work together with the Baltic Medical Manager and contribute to the overall Baltic medical strategy, including budget planning and follow through of activity plans.
- Disseminate scientific data, information, and support, proactively and reactively, e.g. clinical information and data for the field and external stakeholders, deliver lectures on scientific, clinical, and technical therapy area topics.
- Participate in local and international scientific meetings, along with attendance at key congresses to ensure a broad scientific knowledge within the specific therapeutic area, interact with Thought Leaders and other key Healthcare Professionals and produce congress summaries for internal and external dissemination.
- Assist in maintaining, and improving, the Medical Information and wider the medical service in line with the Franchise Strategy and Ipsen SOPs. Ensure medical support and guidance of mandatory patient safety and risk minimization activities as requested, in collaboration with regulatory and pharmacovigilance departments.
- Assist in the development, review, and approval of scientific and clinical content of relevant promotional and non-promotional materials and activities.
- Responsibility for local ethics, compliance, and governance.
Candidate requirements:
- Ideally proven experience and successful track record as an MSL or medical department professional in a previous company.
- Ideally at least 3 years experience in the pharmaceutical industry, including Medical Affairs management and engagement with Thought Leaders.
- Medical graduate and/or PhD in clinical science or other corresponding scientific degree would be preferable.
- Biomedical, Scientific University education ideally to post-graduate degree level -e.g. MSc, PhD, MD, PharmD.
- Medical/paramedical Practice or Research career (hospital and/or hospital related, university research, pharmaceutical industry research or medical affairs).
- Language: Expert/fluent communicator in a Lithuanian language and excellent knowledge of written and spoken scientific English.
- Knowledge of local regulatory rules and guidelines.
- Knowledge of, and current training in, GxP (GCP, GPvP, and other applicable instruments and regulations governing clinical research, medical information, and scientific communication).
Key required competencies:
- Scientific knowledge (including product, disease, competitive landscape, trials, regulatory, patient safety and medical information and publications).
- Strong leadership, scientific communication, presentation (data dissemination) and influencing skills and commitment to compliance with the ethical and regulatory requirements of health authorities and Ipsen regulations.
- External stakeholder management (identification, mapping, collaboration & partnership).
- Knowledge of data generation (including design and execution of clinical trials and non-interventional studies).
- Insight generation.
- Proven experience of critically appraising clinical evidence, and an ability to assimilate large volumes of data.
