Context
The Guest Editor will be tasked to implement editorial support activities for Russian-language media outlets in Baltic countries. These activities will include mentoring of the staff, trainings on different aspects of editorial work, advising on content editing, etc. This work will be performed both onsite and online, with the possibility of part-time. An anticipated term of 6 to 8 months with possibility of extension.
Core Functions/Responsibilities:
- Working hand in hand with one or more editorial teams.
- Mentoring editorial staff.
- Advising on content editing, production, and distribution.
- Organizing the planning of the editorial process.
- Analyzing the editorial workflow and working closely with staff to adjust it if necessary.
- Conducting trainings for the editorial team.
- Setting editorial goals.
- Analyzing audience indicators.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- University degree in Journalism, Media Management, Communications, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years work experience in media outlets, of which at least 3 years in the role of editorial manager, editor-in-chief, deputy editor-in-chief or desk editor.
- Experience in designing and implementing editorial support activities.
- Native Russian speaker, English would be an advantage.
- Knowledge of one of the national languages of the Baltic countries is an advantage.
- Experience working on donor-funded projects.
- Demonstrated organizational skills, ability to prioritize workload and multi-task in a fast-paced environment with a strong track record of meeting deliverables.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills, with a problem-solving attitude and as a self-starter who works both independently and as a collaborative team player.
- Excellent writing skills.
- Ability to travel and spend extended time in the field.
