The National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI) is an international non-profit organization working to strengthen democracy worldwide. NDI’s Vilnius office is currently seeking an Program Assistant/Officer to support the implementation of programs and activities with a focus on strengthening democracy and supporting civil society.

Job description

Coordinate and assist with NDI civic and political development programs, including:
- Coordination and logistics for trainings, workshops, and consultations with partners;
- Prepare program activity reports demonstrating results;
- Assist with preparing materials for citizen engagement, communications and advocacy training sessions and consultations;
- Contribute to program and activity planning and design (online and in person events);
- Develop, maintain and expand relationships and communication with program partners and
vendors, consultants and other civic organizations;
- Prepare required financial reports of program events in accordance with NDI's policies;
- General administrative tasks, including responding to inquiries and logistical support;
- Translate program materials into English/Russian and provide English/Russian oral interpretation as needed;
- Track political news and conduct political analysis; and
- Other tasks may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications

- Experience with NGO, civil society or political organizations;
- Excellent organizational and networking skills;
- Professional experience working with civil society and/or leading development cooperation projects, events and activities;
- Fluency in written and spoken Russian and English required (must be able to communicate and work independently in both languages - knowledge of Belarusian will be an advantage)
- Demonstrated interest in and knowledge of international affairs, politics and civil society in Belarus;
- Flexibility and availability to work extra hours as needed
- High degree of organization and attention to detail
- BA Degree in Social Sciences (i.e. Political Science, Sociology) or equivalent experience
- Ability and willingness to work under time pressure and to meet strict deadlines, good time
management and multitasking skills
- Ability to translate-interpret from Russian to English is an asset

Other information

NDI will not sponsor residency or work permits for this position, therefore only applicants with the legal right to live and work in Lithuania will be considered.
