Key Purpose Statement:

The overall remit of the Insights & Analytics Lead is to partner with respective business functions to understand business challenges and identify data driven solutions to overcome those challenges. By understanding the strategy, processes and day to day operations of the business functions, and the data and analytics capabilities of IT and industry trends, this person will be able to support current demand but also be able to proactively work with the business to identify new opportunities to apply insights and analytics to their respective areas. The objective is to turn Company into a data driven organisation.

Organisational Context:

The role reports to Company’s Insights & Analytics Director and works closely together with business function stakeholders and the wider IT organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Understand the strategy, processes and day to day operations of the respective business functions
  • Understand data and analytics capabilities of Company IT and industry trends that can assist in the extraction of insights from data, promoting appropriate technology and processes which will help gain insight into data
  • Understand business challenges and identify data driven solutions
  • Manage and prioritize the portfolio of the business functions’ Insights & Analytics demands, ensuring proper prioritization based on business cases
  • Ensure timely delivery of Insights & Analytics within agreed budgets
  • Look for opportunities across business functions to leverage investments into Insights & Analytics and to share learnings
  • Track industry trends to enable proactive consulting on opportunities with the business teams
  • Identify opportunities to adopt pioneering technology in conjunction with data science
  • Be capable of seeing the bigger picture, able to envision and articulate a complete end-to-end data flow to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Understand how to create predictive models for what can be large datasets, in order to provide an organisation with insight and forecasting
  • Basic programming and mathematical skills to understand patterns in large datasets

Main contacts for this job:

  • Partner with Director and BU stakeholders, providing technical and system expertise, to synergize IT strategic direction and data requirements
  • Establish a level of trust and credibility by building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders
  • Work closely with the IT security function to ensure all security policies are fully adhered to
  • Work proactively with their GAF colleagues to ensure alignment across Standard Industries
  • Work proactively with suppliers to ensure the Company business is receiving an excellent level of service and the best advice
  • Mentor and assist team members where appropriate

Requirements

  • Degree level educated in a relevant subject area
  • IT consulting and project management experience
  • Experienced in enterprise architecture, business information modelling, cloud technologies, ETL, data warehousing and system design
  • Experience of leading workshops, requirement gathering, and creation of business requirements documentation
  • Ability to gather requirements, test strategies, design deliverables and define best practices and procedures for the group
  • Experiences with project implementations of Enterprise Information Management technologies (e.g. Informatica, SAP, Oracle etc)
  • Broad knowledge of current technology, tools and techniques for Insight and Analytics
  • Fluency in English is mandatory - other European languages is an advantage
