Role/Responsibilities:

The KM will partner with an AVP KM and Accounting Specialists globally. This role will be responsible for analytic data spreading documentation and guidelines, standardization and training. The KM will liaise with Accounting Specialists and analytic teams to resolve Financial Data Analysts’ (FDA) spreading questions, to identify root causes to data inaccuracies and reworks, to create and maintain guidance and training on financial data mappings and adjustments, and to enforce standardized spreading guidance.
This is a meaningful role to provide high quality and timely analytic data to the Ratings & Research (R&R) and Ratings & Research Support (RRS) teams with extensive interaction with Accounting Specialists (AS), Associate Analysts (AA) and Lead Analysts (LA). The KM will also collaborate with KMs in other Lines of Business to create D&A-wide standards and best practices.
Role/Responsibilities:
• Fully understand and apply the Moody’s Chart of Accounts, adjustments, ratios and methodologies to the analytic data spreading process
• Resolve FDA and Outsourcer team accounting and spreading related questions, and significantly reduce the need to escalate questions to analytic teams
• Liaise with AS to resolve complex questions and exceptions to general guidelines
• Empower FDA and Outsourcer teams to more independently deliver high quality analytic data by building and institutionalizing spreading knowledge
• Work with AS to create and maintain existing guidelines and update guidelines due to new disclosure or accounting and spreading changes
• Identify areas of non-standard mappings or use of adjustments and create and lead initiatives to achieve a higher degree of standardization
• Contribute to and lead projects to increase consistency of spreads across regions and sectors
• Identify root causes for processing delays, errors and reworks, and develop and implement continuous improvement plans
• Analyze FDA analytic data mapping and adjustment questions and errors to identify trends and create guidelines and training
• Significantly increase spread throughput and reduce spread rework and on hold times
• Together with AS, plan for upcoming accounting / spreading changes, and develop and implement new instructions, communication plans and training
• Build up globally consistent training curriculum
• Provide ongoing formal and informal feedback to FDAs on data accuracy to ensure development of team members
• Recommend and implement process improvements, including Quality Control processes
• Contribute technical knowledge to sector and adjustment methodology updates
• Work with IT Business Analysts to implement changes driven by accounting updates and improvements

Qualifications and Skills:

• 4-7 years of experience in accounting, finance or financial statement analysis
• BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics or similar field
• MS, MBA, CFA or other advanced degree is desirable
• Deep understanding and knowledge of IFRS, US GAAP and other accounting principles
• Extensive experience working with financial data/statement analysis, analytical experience is desirable
• Excellent communication (written and verbal), organizational and administrative skills
• Initiative and motivation to systematically increase global consistency and transparency of data used in Moody’s ratings and research
• Ability to enforce documented and agreed upon guidelines and standards with analytic teams
• Client focus, result orientation and strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, focus and work independently
• Flexibility to meet changing demands and shift priorities according to business needs
• Strong communication and relationship-management skills and ability to interact effectively with various partners and senior management
• Computer literate with a solid understanding of Excel, Word and PowerPoint
