Data Platform Lead
Location: Vilnius, Lithuania (hybrid)
Johnson Matthey IT (JM IT) is Johnson Mattheys global IT function responsible for ensuring that our IT capabilities are not only able to support and integrate technologies but can also offer insight into future IT tools that could provide us with a competitive edge and improved operating efficiencies.
The Data Platform Lead role, as part of our Data and Integration Platforms team, leads a team of data engineers delivering data capabilities to drive value across JM. The data lead will also manage the underpinning data platform.
The role holder will work with JM business team and IT mission teams to develop and operate data services providing technical leadership and direction. The role holder will also be required to collaborate with other business and engineering teams, particularly the integration team, data governance and reporting teams. The role will be accountable for managing the team of data engineers, ensuring team development, and overseeing data solutions through design and implementation. The role will also be expected to drive forward our data best practice standards and guardrails to ensure the underlying platform is used safely and securely.
Your responsibilities:
- Stakeholder Management & Advocacy: Build strong relationships with key stakeholders across business units, data science, analytics, and engineering.
- Vendor Management & Road mapping: Manage relationships with data platform vendors and technology partners. Partner with them to define roadmaps that align with business and technical needs.
- Platform Strategy & Roadmap: Lead the development of a comprehensive data platform strategy and roadmap aligned with company goals and data governance principles.
- Budget Management & Prioritization: Manage the platform budget effectively, prioritising data platform features, functionalities, and projects based on business value, impact, and return on investment (ROI) in data initiatives.
- Platform Security & Performance: Steward a secure, scalable, and high-performing data platform. Continuously monitor key metrics and proactively identify areas for optimisation in performance, security, data quality, and data lineage.
- Technical Debt Management: Implement strategies to minimise technical debt within the platform.
- Data Governance & Standardisation: Work with the data governance team and Data Owners to ensure the platform aligns to data governance principles and promotes data quality and consistency across the organisation.
- Inspire High-Performing Teams: Build and manage a high-performing data platform team. Mentor and coach team members to achieve their full potential in data engineering, data management, and data platform support.
Requirements for the role:
- Experience working with the engineering team in the sustainable technologies sector.
- Proven leadership skills leading and motivating a global direct and indirect team.
- Good understanding of the IT market and future trends, especially related to sustainable technology organisations or other organisations with a similar product focus.
- Manage key stakeholders, enabling decision-making and smooth delivery.
- Analytical-conceptual thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Database Management, Data Lakes & Data Warehousing (i.e. Azure/ SAP BW).
- DevOps and Continuous Integration/ Continuous Deployment
- Security Tools (i.e. Sonar Cloud/ Qualys).
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
How you will be rewarded:
Salary range for this position is from 50,500 to 93,500 EUR per year depending on various factors, such as candidates qualifications, skills, and competencies. This role is also eligible to receive discretionary annual bonus that align with individual and company performance.
